As Congress moves closer to reforming the Copyright Act, representatives from the music industry, broadcast industry, and Internet are taking time to voice their concerns on Capitol Hill. During a recent Hearing before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet, industry representatives argued for the transition to a fair market approach to music licensing agreements. Other industry representatives argued against a willing buyer/willing seller market opting instead for an 801(b) standard. Most agree that the Copyright Act is in need of reform to maintain pace with the rapid changes in technology. Exactly how and what changes should be made, however, is highly debated.
